Happy Sunday and greetings from a very, sunny Vancouver week!
I’ve come to find that living in Vancouver during the summer is like hitting the jackpot of perfect weather. We live next to the water so that means tons of sunshine, cooler breezes, and a nearby city buzzing with activities. As a mom, this season is a delighted blend of chasing toddlers through splash parks and finding that elusive balance between stylish and practical outfits. This week’s newsletter welcomes a peek into my summer wardrobe (which looks quite different than the past few years), where functionality meets panache; each [modernized] outfit telling a story of summer adventures and motherhood.
This past week my wardrobe had to keep up with a whirlwind of activities. There were days spent at the splash park, where my toddler’s infectious laughter filled the air as she darted through fountains of water. PS. If you’ve ever tried to wrangle a soaking wet toddler while maintaining an ounce of dignity, you’re already one point ahead of me. This look [below] was completely drenched by mid-afternoon.
Between all of our busy days, I found myself navigating the fine line between practical mom attire and instagram-worthy ensembles. Breezy sundresses and functional footwear for those marathon stroller walks, as well as many looks in these shorts. They have been an absolute staple in my summer wardrobe this year. I can’t stop wearing them. Actually, I just ordered yet another pair in this colour halfway through writing this post. They’re just that good.
Anyway, here’s a glimpse into the wardrobe of a mom making the most of Vancouver’s summer magic:
Monday
Ended up without the sweater by mid-morning but the initial look was too cute not to document.
Wednesday
Date nights are pretty much non-existent for us these days but we make do when we can. We prepared some snacks, secured a bottle of wine, and took a picnic in the park (with baby girl). I don’t get the chance to dress up much these days so whenever an opportunity presents itself, I take it. This was the cutest date night look! Side note: I have been wearing these earrings nonstop lately (as you’ll see in the following days).
PS. I didn’t forget Tuesday— it was a “spend the day in PJs” day.
Thursday
Outfit repeater and IDC! This look was my favorite last week and I’m wearing it again this week. The butter yellow shorts and navy crew neck colours just go so well together. Currently looking for other alternatives to this exact colour combination. Also, earrings are worn again here. I really like combining casual attire with dressier jewelry— the juxtaposition of the two opposites pair so nicely together IMO.
Friday
Two outfits were worn this day on account of *motherhood*. I had an event with Volvo in the mid-afternoon to which I wore this cute dress from Zara, these Free People sandals (that are roughly a decade old—not joking. I bought these just in college and they’re still holding up nicely) and this bag from Verafied. Then I changed once I got home and activated my “mom mode” attire to something a bit more functional since we headed to the playground that evening:

Saturday
RE: The outfit that got soaked at the splash park yesterday. We’re headed there again today as it’s going to be another super hot day!
Until next time,

Looking stylish while chasing a toddler deserves an award🏆
Would love to know how you’re tackling the toddler messes? Whenever I wear my favourite things around my son I end up with food stains, bloody knee smears or good old dirt marks … really curbs my excitement to dress for myself!
I’ve been loving your newsletter! Very similar style and content to mine, as I’m also in the thick of toddlerhood and trying to look somewhat put together while doing it 🫠. Especially loved that white dress.
