How I'm Styling My Adidas

What once started out as mere intrigue due to the nature of their virality online, has turned into a full blown addiction for me as a fashion + comfort lover. I’ve crowned Adidas as the sneaker of 2023/2024. Not only are they incredibly comfortable, but they go with just about anything you put on! Plus, as a narrow-foot gal, the arch support on these sambas are unreal. The fit and feel in just undeniably fantastic.
Look 1: Dresses
When summer time rolls around I basically live in dresses. Honestly, I’ve always had trouble styling summer looks; I’m much for of a fall girly when it comes to fashion. So, I’ve found that wearing dresses is not only great due to the heat but it makes getting dressed each day incredibly easy by taking out the guess work of putting a look together. Simply throw on a dress, pick some shoes, and you’re out the door. Combine with sneakers and it’s a match made in heaven for a mom of a 2-year-old: Stylish + functional + comfortable.
Look 2: What to wear when you don’t want to think
A more obvious fit but truly, you can’t ever go wrong with jeans and a tee. I like to stick to the formula: oversize on top, fitted on bottom, and vice versa. I find sticking to this general rule of thumb with styling creates a more elevated, balanced look.
Plus, it’s a no-fail fit for a busy mom with kids. Easy, no stress, and timeless. These days I’ve really been leaning on my staple pieces, which, for me, are jeans (baggy or straight fit- I love both), t-shirts, cardigans, and pullovers. That’s the gist of most of my outfits, then I add my own take and charm based on what I’m currently inspired by. The inspiration comes from all over: Pinterest, Instagram, magazines, people watching… wherever.
Look 3: Something white (AKA: without my toddler)
I love a good button up. I feel very comfortable when wearing one and find it adds more *umph* to an otherwise “boring” outfit.
Because I know I love these, feel good in them, and the fact that they’re *so* versatile, I own many button ups of the same general style in different colors, fabrics (and stripes).
Getting dressed is entirely about oneself. When I’m wearing an outfit I love, and feel confident in, it opens me up. It brings me joy, and has the tendency to lift my mood and productivity. Thinking this way actually helped my newly postpartum self during such an emotional and overwhelming time. I found when I took small bits of “me” time to dress myself when I could, I was in a better mood.
Becoming a mom has most definitely changed not only me, but my style as well. I don’t think I really knew myself until I became a mom. I truly believe it’s where my self-acceptance came from.
Until next time,
